‘Arabica’ varieties, such as ‘Caturra’, ‘Catuí’, ‘Bourbon’, ‘Typica’ and ‘Icatú’, are native to highlands. ‘Bourbon’ and ‘Typica’ are considered two of the oldest and most fundamental varieties in the history of coffee cultivation, while ‘Icatú’ is a hybrid that emerged from crosses

with other varieties.
